I bought the toy for my then 9 month old dd because she loves this old fashioned kiddie drum that she has already. It's not completely touch sensitive, and the volume at best is a loud whisper. She'll play with it for about one minute and then move onto something else... she doesn't even seem happy to use it.

This was purchased as a gift for my 1 yr old and became the immediate favorite of both my daughter and her 3 yr old brother. This is the first game that they can both play together. It keeps them occupied for hours, and the music, while clearly electronic, closely mimics the sound of real instruments and is not at all irritating- so we don't mind listening to it for hours. It is also exceptionally durable, having now been dropped, kicked, licked, and knocked out the car window. No cracks, no broken pieces, and still plays as well as it did the first day out of the box.

I bought this for my infant. He, at nine months old, is finally starting to show an interest in it. He is experimenting with the cause and effect of banging on it, both ends of course, and is quickly learning which end produces the noises. It has three different settings, as well as a 'parent freindly' volume control. It's added feature is that it encourages motor development not only in hand-eye coordination but also in that the baby will chase the toy around the floor as it rolls away from them. The lights and sounds encourage attention and activity from an early age, and the alphabet can be 'banged' out as the child hits the drum. Other setting provide the child the chance to bang out pre-set musical tunes. All children love music and movement, and the settings on this drum provide changable, enjoyable entertainment for an approximate developmental age range of 9 months to 3 years old. An educational toy, hiding learning in fun and music.

Chapter 8- Family Celebrations: Birthdays, Christmas, Vacations, and Graduations

- Xmas and Ocean This home movie is a perfect example of a large 8mm movie reel can contain footage from years. Small clips, about 1-2 minutes in length, string together to show a family though birthdays, graduations, summer vacations, Christmas celebrations, and back again, over several years. We start off with the Fourth of July sparklers. This was always a favorite of mine when I was a kid Then we see footage from a child's birthday party, complete with red and yellow party hats! In the next scene the family enjoys some horseback riding, although I am not familiar with the breed of horses. The smallest child rides a small horse- maybe a pony. This footage shows a car's eye view of diving down the interstate. Then, summer heat demands that the family visit the popular swimming pool, complete with slides! Continuing with the summer vacation, the family visits some Huge waterfalls, maybe the famous Niagara falls. Great footage of the rainbows over the falls. Then the vacation takes the family to the ocean. They build sandcastles, swim in the water, play in the ocean waves, and sunbathe. The many children in attendance are anxiously waiting to water ski and use the jet-ski. Looks like an outdoor picnic to celebrate a birthday! Then, it's Christmas time.
